November Tests, Week 3 - Stats
Ireland and New Zealand star
Again we had great sides in action around the Six Nations and again we provide some statistics from the matches, as Ireland prove the best of Europe, New Zealand the best of the world.
The scrums in the Paris match between France and New Zealand were a farce. That such a mess went without penalty was astonishing. Turning 18 scrums into 37 scrums did not make for riveting viewing.
Soundsure have provided their excellent statistics for kicks, tackle/rucks and advantage. The great bit of advantage was in the Ireland-Australia match when advantage in a tough situation ended in Ireland's first try.
Cards
There were six this week. Three of them were from the Ireland-Australia match when an old-fashioned flare-up occurred. Those sent off were certainly involved - Phil Waugh and Mat Rogers of Australia and Denis Leamy of Ireland. Waugh may have been fortunate not to get one earlier.
The other recipients were all at the tackle - Epi Taione of the Pacific Islands, Jean de Villiers of South Africa and Juan Leguizamon of Argentina.
Martin Corry for a tackle that was late and high and Peter Richards for stamping may have been fortunate not to have to spend time in the sin bin. And there are the two Pacific Island falnks and their reckless tackling - Viliami Vaki and Nili Latu.Their actions made Taione's look harmless.
