Your Say

'Not delivered, not going to..'

Your verdict on Andy Robinson

The knives have been out for a while now for the England coach, but never as unanimously as this! After England's eighth defeat in nine matches to the Springboks on Saturday, our mailbox began to swell almost as quickly as the catcalls at Twickenham began to flow from the terraces at the final whistle. Here you give your final verdict on England's main man at the end of a dismal November...

Sack him. Not delivered, not gonna deliver.  Robbo maybe a coach, but not a manager.

He looks in pain during games, the team are playing badly under his leadership…. He has to go.  How could it go so wrong - hard questions need to be asked at a higher level also.

I can only agree that Robinson must go after a dismal 3 years results capped by a total failure in the November tests.

The win against SA is being heralded as the “bright spot” but that was a game more lost by SA than won by England.

For me the bright spot was the NZ game where although we lost by a record margin we did at least score 3 tries against the best team in the world. This indicated that given the opportunities and without the pressure of being expected to win there may be hope for England to gradually climb out of the slump. It will be too late for any meaningful world cup hopes but a few “genuine” wins would bring back the feeling that England can still perform. This mental platform is one that is essential to the success of any team at any level but must be earned and not expected!

You bet Corry wants Rob Andrew to leave Robinson alone, if Robinson stays he might stay in the side. Can Robinson stay? Well, if Rob Andrew lives up to his pre-November series interview comments, no. Can anyone honestly say they've seen an improvement in England's performance?

They've looked flat and incompetent. They've lost to Argentina who had a week together to get ready, and they've lost to the Bok's second team. They've looked clueless, totally clueless. That's not entirely the coach's fault, he can't go and make the passes and the tackles, although you might expect him to point out deficiencies of tactics and approach that look to have continued.

On the field... there are many ways you can captain a side. Iuean Evans and Martin Johnson were never going to be compared for style of leadership, but both actually lead. Corry looks petulant and confused. He might well be both, but as captain do you show that on the pitch? I'm Welsh. I hope they don't replace either of them and England continue their slide to their rightful place in world rugby: near the bottom. Mr. Andrew et al. if you're reading this, think on that.

To smarmy, does'nt know his arse from his elbow. Rob Andrew's a good guy and given time will do a good job.

Nick Mallet is the guy they should have gone for over Robinson, he knows the SH Rugby brain and has the furrowed brow of Johnno, so he can motivate players.

Johnno would be be a fantastic choice but i feel would be a bit green to start with and as we don't have time for that with Old Bill looming, Mallet's the man for the job.

Or put Johnno and Mallet in together - Sack Robinson and Baron.

As a die hard England fan, I have recently found myself in the embarrassing situation of willing on the opposition in the Autumn internationals in the hope that it would bring English Rugby management to their senses that a change had to be made in the Head of coaching, (as would still be in England's best interest and therefore my loyalty remains) - I was hopeful after the Argentina game but generously Rob Andrew had guaranteed Andy Robinson his job until the end of the Autumn internationals, now that is over and we took another thumping, this time from the Springboks, please Ron Andrew do not let me down and bit the bullet.

It is not that I dislike Robinson, he seems a fairly decent bloke, but come on, he is totally out of his depth as coach. We have the players and show brief moments of individual skill, but as a team we are horrible, with no game plan and the creativity coached out of us. What does he have to do to be fired - I am not aware of any world cup winning team in any sport plummeting so quickly in world ranking as the England team have done since winning the world cup just over 3 years ago.

After every dismal appearance Robinson seems to be totally out of touch with reality claiming "we are on track..", "we can take some positives..." or other similar nonsense - let call it what it is - there is no light at the end of the tunnel - we are headed down a dead end track.

Stuart Barnes called it correctly yet again when he questioned the reasoning being given for not firing Robinson with the rest of the coaches under him in the last coaching reshuffle, and that was because they "wanted to keep continuity" - well we are continually losing - so you have your continuity alright - now Rob Andrew please stop the rot.

Having suffered another inept performance where we had plenty of ball and field position it is OBVIOUS we need Andy Farrell in at 10 or 12 to distribute the ball. Noon is rubbish Cueto not much better and Cohen leaves a lot to be desired !   Although Lewsey saved us last week he is not a class fullback. If Goode is the best 10 we can find then we do have big problems.

We hear all the same noises from the players and management before the game and after it. I’m sick of it, it sounds so hollow when we are the worst England team in my memory. When was the last time we were eighth in the world rankings? It’s a disgrace and something has to be done. I understand that a culture change is underway which is good, but can that really happen when the manager has the charisma and people skills of an overcooked potato?!

Having played rugby, I firmly believe that there is a natural leader in almost any team at whatever level who doesn’t need to be appointed, the players will all know who it is. Someone they follow not because they’re told to, but because they want to. I’d love to know if Corry is that man. In most cases the manager should be able to look at the team and see at least one. Surely the only difficulty is when you have two or more to choose from?

The whole thing is a joke. I’ll still be wearing my jersey come the Six Nations in support of my country as always, but sadly my sense of pride has almost vanished. I was almost disappointed when we won last weekend, partly because we were terrible for at least half the match, but mainly because the thought of Robinson staying on as coach makes me feel like investing in a snipers rifle and putting him out of our misery. As I see it we have got progressively worse the longer he’s been in charge, how can that be overlooked?
