Pumas want to be closer to Paris

Prior to RWC opening

Argentina want to move their team closer to Paris for the opening match of the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

They play France in the opening match but are due to be located in the far east of France, in the region of Rhône-Alpes. According to Le Site, the Pumas' management have refused to stay in that area before that first match on 7 September 2007.

Most of the Pumas play their rugby in France.

The manager of the World Cup, Claude Atcher, is reported as saying: "If the want to spend the first week in Paris before going to the Rhône-Alpes region, it will not pose a problem, but they must go to the hotel which the organisers have allotted."

Atcher went on to say that all 18 of the teams already qualified had to chose their base camp and training fields by 15 January at the latest.

The two spots to be filled will be decided by répechage. In the east Korea play Tonga while in the west Portugal play Morocco and the winner of that round then plays Uruguay.
