Samoan merry-go-round continues

Jones makes seven changes

Samoan coach Michael Jones continued with his rotation policy when he named the starting XV for the next phase of his team's five-match tour - a game against the Reds at the Gold Coast Stadium in Carrara on Saturday.

It is the fourth match on the tour and follows the South African leg of the trip. After a promising start, when a late try gave the Samoans a narrow win over a Lions/Pumas selection, Jones's team suffered heavy defeats against the powerful Bulls and Cheetah teams.

The Samoan coach would be hoping for a better performance against a Reds team that went down heavily (38-9) to the Blues earlier this week.

Jones made seven changes from the team that started against the Cheetahs in their previous match.

Keli Ateria comes in at fullback for Sevens specialist Uale Ma'i, who is having a very disappointing tour.

Other backline changes see Mikaele Senio on the right wing in place of Asalemo Malo, while Pati Fetuiai and Jerry Meafou are the centres in place of Mikaele Senio and Willie Lafaele.

Ray Stark takes over at No.8 from Ulia Ulia, who captained Samoa in the last game. Donald Kerslake takes over the captaincy.

Barry Papalii takes over at lock from Lutu Pese and Pena Falefa is at tighthead prop for Iakopo Eti.

Samoa: 15 Keli Ateria, 14 Mikaele Senio, 13 Pati Fetuiai, 12 Jerry Meafou, 11 Timoteo Iosua, 10 Lolo Lui, 9 Junior Poluleuligaga, 8 Ray Stark, 7 William Brame, 6 Justin Purdie, 5 Barry Papalii, 4 Mike Sala, 3 Pena Falefa, 2 Silao Vaisola, 1 Donald Kerslake (captain),
Replacements (from): Loleni Tafunai, Iakopo Eti, Luti Pese, Ulia Ulia, Filisoa Faaiu, Marlon Solofuti, Notise Tauafao, Doug Sanft, Uale Mai, Asalemo Malo, Willy Lafaele.
