The Scottish Rugby Union have appointed George Graham, Alan Tait and Mark Bitcon to Hadden's staff, and the coach insists the team will soon reap the benefits.

"It became obvious when we reviewed the November Test series that if we were going to maximise the potential of this group of players then I needed help," Hadden said.

"We realised that we needed to give players the sort of feedback and personal attention that I couldn't give them while I was working alone. Bringing these guys on board is going to help us do that.

"It also means that I am going to get extra help with the analysis. We talked today about what we expect (new head coach) Brian Ashton to do with the England side and you can bet that they won't be talking about what they are going to do against us for at least another week, so we are one week ahead of them already. That's because we've got these guys on-board who are able to do that sort of analysis."

Graham and Tait were recruited from struggling Border Reivers earlier this month to assist Hadden with the forwards and the backs respectively. Bitcon was brought in from Glasgow last week as fitness adviser. All three had previously been involved with the national set-up on a part-time basis.

Scotland scored a historic 18-12 victory over England at Murrayfield last season, but taking on the world champions in their own back yard is a different matter altogether.

England might have slumped to eight losses in their last nine matches, but with Ashton taking over from Andy Robinson as head coach they will be desperate to force a change in their own fortunes.

However Hadden is confident that his team has got what it takes to claim Scotland's first win on English soil since 1983.

"Whoever we pick to play against England that we are going to beat them," he said.

"We've got some good players in this country who are capable of playing at a very high level. I'm not trying to claim that we are world-beaters, but we know we are going to be competitive."
