Louw to leave South Africa one last time?Blue Bulls lock Hottie Louw looks set to end his career overseas, after not being offered a contract that would allow him to continue playing for the joint Currie Cup champions next year.
Former Western Province star Louw - who was on loan from Welsh club Llanelli Scarlets this season - joined the Bulls at the start of the 2006 Currie Cup.
"I was hoping for an offer to stay at the Bulls, but I had originally decided that I would go overseas again at the end of the Currie Cup. I am still under contract at Llanelli and I'm waiting to find out what exactly is happening there," he told the Pretoria News.
"Everything is still a bit in the air and I'm waiting for my agent to phone me, but I have a number of options that I am considering."
But Louw, who is reportedly in demand at some clubs in England (Newcastle and Bath) and France, can at least look back fondly on his time at Loftus Versfeld.
"I enjoyed my time a lot here at the Blue Bulls and I can understand why they are such a successful side," he told the Pretoria News.
"I hope they can take that success further in the next few years and create something special here at Loftus.
"While we didn't win the Currie Cup on Saturday, I told the guys that it is still an honour - there aren't many teams in the history books who have shared a Currie Cup trophy before," added the man who won two Currie Cups with Western Province - in 2000 and 2001.
And the former Springbok - 30-year-old Louw won three Test caps under Rudolf Straeuli in 2002 - has not ruled out the possibility of one day again returning to Pretoria.
Louw concluded: "You never know; I have made the decision now but I could be back before you know it."
